QOM -- A prominent Iranian cleric said that President George W. Bush ought to know that the world will not tolerate invasion and domination.

Thwarting any revival of Islam and its spread to all parts of the world is the major objective behind the us-lead invasion on Iraq, Ayatollah Hossein Nouri-Hamedani categorically said in a gathering at Qom, adding that the U.S. fully knows that Islam will oppose arrogance as shown in this unilaterally declared war.

A resolution condemning the war and expressing sympathy to the Muslim nation of Iraq was issued by those who attended.

It called the war launched by the U.S. and its allies as "illegitimate," and called on world bodies, including human rights organizations, to take measures to bring it to a speedy conclusion.

It also expressed great concern over the damage that have been inflicted on holy Shia shrines in Iraq, particularly those in embattled cities of Najaf and Karbala, and urged Iranian officials to assist in providing humanitarian aid to the oppressed Iraqi nation.
